AS 91521: Carry out a practical physics investigation to test a physics theory relating to two variables in a non-linear relationship
The practical investigation required at Level 3 requires you to incorporate all aspects covered in Level 2 with the addition of dealing with experimental uncertainties. You will need to:
- plan an appropriate method with key variables identified and described
- identify uncertainties in raw data
- use and describe the effects of accuracy improving techniques
- interpret a non-linear graph
- transform a non-linear graph into a linear graph and calculate the mathematical relationship taking into consideration uncertainties in plotted data
- make comparisons between a theoretical equation and the mathematical equation derived from your results stating the uncertainty in your final result
- discuss, in detail, the reliability and accuracy of your results including full descriptions of any difficulties encountered, their effects on results, as well as justification for chosen accuracy improving techniques and any limitations of the theory's applicability.
Assessment: this will be in the format of a written lab report using Google Docs (or other Google platform). NOTE submissions in Word, PDF or other formats will not be accepted.
