Matua Chris (MY)

Kia ora, I have been a part of the Waiopehu Mathematics department since 2020. I grew up in Dannevirke, and am the son of two maths teachers. My tertiary education was a very mixed bag, including Quantum Nanoscience, Chemistry, Philosophy, Mathematics, English, and Performing Arts.

My aim as a teacher is to build relationships with my Akonga in order to increase their confidence and their own natural curiosity. Children and young adults should be learning to take risks and make mistakes in order to gain a deeper understanding of the world around them, and I hope to create an environment in which my students feel safe to do this, without fear of ridicule or punishment.
