10OED (Outdoor Education)

Students will gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of their local environment whilst also developing a range of practical skills and knowledge that will prepare them  well NCEA Outdoor Education  and life in general.

Topics covered include:

• Knots

• Raft Building

• Camp Craft

• Mountain Biking

• Shelter Building

• Harakeke Weaving

• Sustainability

There are two trips associated with this course - a raft building expedition and an overnight shelter survival trip. Both trips take place locally on-island.
