Every year, the New Zealand Association of Teacher of English (NZATE) organise a national conference during which teachers, NZQA officials, well-known NZ writers and other public figures come together to explore and celebrate English teaching and learning in New Zealand.

This year, the conference (aptly titled "Weaving Words") was held in the beautiful Waitangi, in the Bay of Island. I was thrilled to be selected as a workshop presenter for this wonderful event and was honoured to communicate and share my pride in our school and in the strength of our teaching and learning in English on our stunning island. Delegates were most impressed with my presentation, which focused on a socio-psychological approach to film analysis, and included short clips of student work by Jona Wuerth and Anabelle Ross. I have had numerous requests to share more student work as exemplars, which is very exciting.
