OCTOBER 27, 2023 - HERO AWARD WINNER

6th Grade Student - Harper Thompson

"Harper has all of the qualities of an exemplary student. She works hard in class, completes assignments on time, goes above and beyond in the quality of her work, and is actively engaged and participates in class discussions. She also has a positive attitude and is always smiling. These things alone would cause the 6th grade team to view her as a HERO and a role model to her peers - but what really stands out to us is how kind she is and her willingness to help others. She has been seen multiple times in several classes helping other students with their work. She is not only patient in her efforts but also does it with integrity, taking the time to truly explain the work not just give the answers. This not only makes her a good example to others, but also a good friend."

September 2, 2022 - HERO AWARD WINNER

8th Grader - Chandler Beasley

"This hero was the originator of the idea of bringing peer mediation to Wahoo Middle School. He realized that sometimes, classmates were struggling to solve small problems that then turned in to bigger, more disruptive ones. Feelings were being hurt. Friendships were being damaged because the communication link between them was broken. He saw a way, through peer mediation, to transform his care into action. For that, Wahoo Middle School is proud to recognize Chandler Beasley with a HERO award."-John Harris - 7th & 8th Grade Counselor (Wahoo Middle School)
