Oh hey, I'm glad you're here! My name is Sarah.
I'm a therapist located in Iowa and I specialize in perinatal mental health. This includes issues experienced during or after pregnancy, traumatic delivery, postpartum, parenting, infertility, and loss.
Before I became a therapist, I was a labor, delivery, and postpartum nurse for six years. My time as a nurse allows me to create a therapy experience uniquely suited to your needs as a parent or parent to be. Stepping into this new role can be scary and overwhelming. There's SO much pressure to do it all perfectly with little to no help. If some of your thoughts sound anything like this...
"Being a parent is different than I thought it would be."
"This is so hard."
"What if I'm not cut out for this?"
"I just want to feel like myself again."
...then you belong here. The space you'll find with me is warm, affirming, and free from judgement. We'll process your experience, embrace imperfection, and celebrate all of your wins both big and small.
My time as a registered nurse also means that I have a LOT of empathy for healthcare workers. You won't have to explain much about staffing ratios, demanding schedules, and burnout to me - I get it! You might be looking to process what you see on the job, learn coping skills for the next full moon, or work through what comes next in your career. When you step in to my office, it's okay to step out of your helper role for a little while. I've got you.
When I'm not in session, you'll find me enjoying time with Brandal and our two dogs. I love all things cozy. I probably have too many plants, but I refuse to stop buying them. Fantasy books are my jam. I love playing video games. Spooky season is my favorite – I look forward to giant sweaters, warm drinks, and witchy vibes all year.
