After-school enrichment programs are offered to families through the Wade King PTO, and because they're offered after school hours, Bellingham School District insurance does not cover them. The Wade King PTO's insurance states that programs held at the school need to have a PTO member chaperone in order for insurance to take affect. Therefore, many of our programs need a PTO chaperone and are offering significant program fee discounts. To become a PTO chaperone, you must have an up-to-date volunteer application.

This is a continuation of the coding and robotics curriculum taught in the winter, appropriate for both new and returning students.
Students discover the joy of creation. Using our brand-new, advanced building materials, kids will learn to design and construct exciting, motorized robots, turning their imagination into reality. Through hands-on engineering projects and interactive lessons, students will develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity skills. They will
learn to build and program their robots, exploring the world of electronics by integrating exciting new smart sensors—like infrared detectors, LED matrices, and touch sensors!
Our program fosters a collaborative and supportive learning environment where Wade
King students can work together, share ideas, and celebrate their high-tech
achievements.
Focus: Different Engineering & Logic
For Returning Students: They will face new challenges, using complex sensors and advanced coding logic to build "smarter" robots.
For New Students: The curriculum is designed to be inclusive, so beginners can still join and learn the fundamentals while working alongside experienced peers.

Hip Hop class is a fun and silly dance class set to popular, age-appropriate music. We will skip, jump, play games, and learn fun dances. This class enhances strength and stamina so students can successfully perform moves; class includes upper and lower body conditioning along with a high intensity warm-up to help get kiddos excited. We infuse classic hip hop and jazz styles with the latest popular dances, and classes will include games and across-the-floor exercises. Students are encouraged to bring their own individual styles and personalities to their movements. This class will keep kids moving, giving them structure as well as freedom to get their wiggles out.
They will learn a full routine to perform for parents on the last day of class.

Mythmakers is a series of daily, self-contained adventures all centered in the same fantasy setting (for example a neighborhood in a city). The self-contained nature of the adventures offers flexibility for tailoring adventures to fit the participants’ interests, and those who aren’t interested in the adventure-of-the-day always have the option to play a fun variety of sword games instead.
Each mini-adventure contributes to the ultimate goals of the season, such as building a stronger community and/or defeating a powerful antagonist. This means that participants build on one another’s achievements and by the end of the program, celebrate all that they’ve accomplished together. These programs use a simple LARP game system, with rules and powers that promote player choice and teamwork.

The Wade King PTO wants to ensure that Wade King parents and guardians feel supported so their children can attend an after-school program each year. We aim to help all families who might need financial assistance. Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis as funds are available. Only one scholarship per child, per session (fall, winter, spring) is available across all programs. Some scholarships are available through the class provider's registration link. Scholarships of more than 50% of the class fee are eligible only to students who meet the criteria for the school district free or reduced lunch program. Scholarships of less than 50% of the class fee are available through the class provider's registration site. Please contact Vicki at enrichment@wadekingpto.org if you need additional scholarship assistance beyond what the class providers offer.
