The Night of the Arts: U.P.'s Celebration of Student Artists

Victor Eamphanich, 04/18/24

The Night of the Arts is the first of it's kind done by our school. The after school event was a display of music and art performed by our school's students. The performing music  groups were Intermediate and Advanced Strings, Jazz, Wind Ensemble, and Mariachi Club. The event started at 6 p.m. and cost $6 to get in.

Inside the venue, there was an art gallery where students from Ms. Zeno's class  which displayed student's art from their classes. During this, the Intermediate and Advanced strings played on stage where the gallery was held. In the art gallery area there was a place to doodle with provided markers by Ms. Zeno.

In the main theater, the rest of the music classes played their prepared songs. The performances were in this order: Madrigals, Jazz Band, Wind Ensemble, Strings, Combined Orchestra and Mariachi Club. During those performances, there were breaks in between for the students to get on stage.

One of the performances was Pirates of the Caribbean by the Combined Orchestra. With a few combined rehearsals and with the limited time, students had to rush to put their parts together. Although some students had lingering feelings about their work, the crowd was very happy with the result.

Night of the Arts was a success and the classes played together well. For the art gallery, it was colorful sight to see and the strings performances during the art gallery was amazing. For a first time the event was great which is why you should come to the events.

Every week, a handful of students from Miss Zeno's high school art classes are chosen to have their artworks displayed for the rest of their peers on the "U.P. Artist Spotlight" wall! Here are this week's artists:
