What & Purpose:
The Fall Festival (previously called the Hootenanny) is a free event for the Valley View community. It occurs on a Friday evening in late October.
The whole school participates: The lower grades each create game booths. The fourth graders create a trunk and treat walk. The fifth graders create the haunted hallway (an exciting opportunity for the new fifth graders).
Tickets can be purchased to buy food at the festival. Proceeds go to the PTA.

Field Day is an opportunity for students to participate in a variety of engaging outdoor activities (tug of war, potato sack races, etc) to culminate at the end of the school year.

The Valley View PTA partners with a local food bank to collect dry and canned food goods for the local community. During the food drive, students and parents will be encouraged to bring food to bins outside of the front office or inside of the breezeway that once collected will be picked up by a local food agency to be distributed.

What & Purpose:
The Fun Run is the biggest PTA sponsored…. fundraising event of the year. Students, teachers, and community members look forward to it every fall!
In the morning of the Run Run, each grade dresses up in their class colors and runs laps in a course set up in the field next to the blacktop behind the school. Parents and community members come to cheer on the students. It is great fun for all.
Students fundraise leading up to the event with a personalized fundraiser page. There are awards for students, classes, and grades that run the most laps.

Many opportunities to volunteer. You can join the Fun Run Committee that organizes the event. Other opportunities include setting up the course the night before or breaking it down after the event. What & Purpose:
Future Fund is an online platform that PUSD, Valley View and the Valley View PTA use to engage with parents to register their students for programs like book club, volunteer for school events, purchase food tickets for fundraisers, or enroll in the PTA among other things.
When & Where:
Most parents interact with Future Fund during Annual Registration to enroll in programs, enroll in the PTA, and give contributions to various programs and groups at Valley View. Periodically, throughout the year, parents will be directed to Future Fund to purchase food tickets for fundraisers like the Fall Festival as well as items like the Yearbook of 5th Grade Outdoor Education.

What & Purpose:
The Valley View PTA organizes and hosts an evening Gala and Auction for adult members of the Valley View community. The Gala and auction serve as a fundraiser for various VV needs and programs.
When & Where:
An evening date in March at a local event space.

Parents and staff attend the Gala and bid on auction items. Many auction items are geared towards students to participate and attend.

PUSD is working on reducing the overidentification of Latinx students for Special Education (IEPs).
What & Purpose:
Intervention specialists usually provide intensive intervention in phonics to students who are identified as needing extra support in reading. They generally offer small group pull-out intervention during each grade level’s Universal Access time. They may also offer one-on-one and push-in intervention, as decided on by the grade level team during data talks, which occur three times throughout the school year. Small groups are usually seen for 6-8 weeks and progress is monitored throughout the intervention period.
Intervention specialists are also involved in assessments, data talks, teacher coaching, Student Improvement Plans (SIPs), and the Coordination of Services Team (COST) meetings.
