Through artistic creations, students will make and create meaning by investigating and developing awareness of perceptions, knowledge, and personal experiences. We will learn the early stages of the creative process, including applying methods to overcome creative blocks (sketching), taking creative risks (large acrylic painting), and documenting the processes in traditional (clay) or new media. We will identify artistic goals, investigate and analyze ways artwork is presented, preserved, and experienced, including through the use of technology. Students in Art & Design will be encouraged to enter their artwork into art shows and artistic academic contests at the state and national level. Students may also become eligible for membership in Glen Meadow Middle School’s chapter of the National Junior Art Honor Society.
