The Full-Year Options are Band, Chorus, and Orchestra.

Assigned Quarter Rotations

Art

Find your voice and style in our studio experience of visual art.  Our goal in this class is for you to feel safe and comfortable to explore multiple materials and methods for making art.  Several projects will be presented with the hope that you will find materials, methods, or styles that are fulfilling.  Some of these may include drawing, painting, design, 3D works, and student-choice poster contests. You will be encouraged to take risks, try something new, discover your natural talent, and practice a method for creating that will give you a sense of artistic academic accomplishment.

Coding Exploration

Do you know why your video games and computer programs work? People create these games using different types of computer language called Coding. Coding is today’s language of creativity.  In this class we will explore how problem-solving through coding is changing our world.  You do not need to have a knowledge of coding to be successful in this class.  Most activities will be teacher-led with opportunities for student creation. Some of our previous projects have included:  App Design and Building, Scene creation and storytelling, Web Design (HTML/CSS), Virtual & Augmented Reality, and Game Design.

Music

Do you ever wonder how musicians created their sound? Or why different musical notes seem to go together better than others? In this General Music class, you will learn the fundamentals of music while having hands-on experiences. We will focus on listening, analyzing, composing and improvising music by playing instruments individually and in a group setting. General Music meets every day for one marking period. This class is for the student who wishes to learn more about music in a classroom setting rather than or in addition to a performance group.

Spanish

Being able to speak more than one language can be very helpful in our ever-growing society. In this class, we will get a formal introduction to Spanish which will incorporate listening, speaking, writing and reading. A variety of learning modalities will be used and you will be completing mini projects which assess the content we cover. Some topics include: Introducing yourself and others, describing yourself and creating a fictional animal that you have invented. The class is designed so that you can interact with your peers in partners and group settings. Interactive venues are used daily and this course is designed to fit your learning style and interests.

Full-Year Options

Band

The Glen Meadow Band is an exciting program for students interested in performing in a large ensemble on a woodwind, brass or percussion instrument. Students meet every day with a focus on learning music fundamentals, note reading, band and historical context while performing fun and exciting music repertoire. We foster a fun, inclusive, and creative environment for our singers to create and experience music together.  Throughout this full year course, students will get an introduction to vocal technique and basic musicianship skills through singing as an ensemble. Our musical selections will give the students the chance to learn music from a wide variety of genres. Performances include the Holiday Concert, Spring Concert, Artstanding, and an adjudicated performance at Dorney Park.

Orchestra

Learning to make music can be fun and calming for many students. Orchestra is designed for instrumentalists with prior string performance experience on violin, viola, cello, or bass.
