4-H programming with youth is guided by an experiential learning process that includes goal setting, cognition, practice, and performance. The performance stage is when members demonstrate what they have learned through various 4-H activities and events, including competitions.
County/District/State Contests: In March, youth may participate in the Cloverbud Pledge or Lego Presentation, Photography, Presentations, Public Speaking, Science Fair, Share-the-Fun or Table Setting at the County Contests. The Danish awards system is used and those earning blue ribbons (except for Cloverbud and Photography Contests) may choose to advance to the Northwest District Contests. State 4-H Congress Competitions are limited to senior age 4-H youth, those ages 14-19 as of September 30 of the 4-H year. Mixed-age acts that competed at the unit or district level will be ineligible at the state level. For more information visit 4-H Competitions | Virginia Cooperative Extension | Virginia Tech
