Project Goals & Objectives

Goals:

• Use the current Virginia NRCS CPS 578 cattle crossing design note in accordance with a new technology to design a multi-use stream crossing for the Catawba Creek Sustainability Center.
• Explore alternative options to rock as a base layer for the crossing as a way to provide useful information to the NRCS about other methods being used in streams nearing, or over, 6 ft/s

Objectives:

• Conduct a technology review to formulate ideas to test for use
• Create a list of potential design solutions that would fulfill the criteria of this project
• Pick the best alternative for design
• Provide a safe crossing for cattle and equipment
• Design a multi-use stream crossing for the Catawba Creek Sustainability Center for rock and articulated concrete blocks
• Compose a recommendation for the USDA-NRCS on high-velocity stream ford crossings
