Leyla Nazhand-Ali

Leyla Nazhand-Ali is a professor in the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech. She received her B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology, Iran, in 2000. She, then, joined Advanced Computer Architecture Laboratory (ACAL) at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where she pursued her graduate studies in Computer Engineering, receiving her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in 2002 and 2006, respectively. Dr. Nazhand-Ali is the recipient of the prestigious National Science Foundation CAREER award in 2008 and the winner of IEEE Real World Engineering Projects Contest. Her research has been funded by many agencies including NSF, SRC, NIST, and NIOSH. Her research spans low power architecture design, circuit-level solutions for secure hardware and embedded system development for emerging technologies such as micro gas chromatography. She has published more than fifty papers in journals and refereed conference papers. Her professional service activities include serving as the Chair of the Secure Embedded Systems section of Technical Program Committee for Design Automation Conference and the guest editor for IEEE Design and Test of Computers. Dr. Nazhandali is a member of IEEE and ACM.
