Bus Transportation will NOT be provided to and from camp this summer. Families will bring campers directly to Jamestown 4-H Educational Center on Monday, July 4, and pickup at Jamestown on Friday, July 8. Please be aware that families will not get out of the vehicles during registration, but simply drive from one station to the next. Please do not arrive earlier than your designated time for pickup or drop-off. Please see specific times for the Drop-off/Departure (right). Staff will greet you as you drive up to the Center. Parents are asked to remain in the vehicles as staff will assist campers with luggage at the appropriate time. Parents will not be allowed in the cabin/lodge areas. A “touchless” check-in will consist of three easy steps - please see full process at this LINK.
As of June 2022, Virginia Cooperative Extension/Virginia Tech announced updated guidance for Covid. Requirements suggested that masks be worn in counties that are in a "high level." Hanover, Goochland and Powhatan counties are currently considered “medium” level in relation to Covid-19, according to the CDC site. 4-H Camps will follow VDH masking recommendations, including wearing a mask if symptoms appear, or if in the 10 days after testing positive for COVID-19, or if in the 10 days following an exposure to a person with COVID-19. If families are more comfortable wearing masks during camp – please plan for your child to wear one, however, if you feel your child does not need a mask, that’s ok too. Although COVID restrictions have been lessened from last summer, we still continue to follow best practices for sanitation, health and safety.
Initial health screenings will take place at check-in at Jamestown 4-H Center, and includes a temperature check and general health questions. All daily screenings will include: asking if youth or staff are experiencing sore throat, new cough, diarrhea, vomiting, stomachache, or new onset of severe headache, especially with a fever.
Temperature Checks will be taken once a day. Any camper/participant with a temperature of 100.4 degrees or above may not stay at camp. We will ask the family to pick up their child. We thank you in advance for your understanding!
Campers who bring medications to camp MUST complete a medication form and provide a copy at camp drop off with the medications in the original container. We also ask that you send this form to your county extension agent prior to camp. See details above.
The full cell phone policy at 4-H camp can be found at this LINK.
All camper mail is delivered daily after lunch. Campers love receiving letters from home while at 4-H camp. Please use the following address: Camper Name, Goochland-Hanover-Powhatan 4-H Camp, Jamestown 4-H Educational Center, 3751 4-H Club Road, Williamsburg, VA 23185
Family and friends are strongly encouraged to send letters and notes to camp. We also suggest you send your child to camp with self-addressed, stamped envelopes for their use. Packages are welcome, but we ask for your full cooperation in not sending food items. NO FOOD IS ALLOWED IN THE CABINS as food attracts mice, raccoons, skunks and other critters into the living space. We also do not want to jeopardize the safety of other children with food allergies.
