Camper Information

Registration Information 

Camper registration opens February 2, 2026(tentatively) .  Registration for Camp is a 3 step process. If you need assistance please contact our office Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm at 434-591-1950.

3. Payment by cash, check or credit card. Fees for 2026 will be TBD. Returned check fee is $50.  

4.  Once we have received your child’s registration for Fluvanna’s 2026 4-H Camp, we will reach out with payment information. Please submit your payment in full. If you are in need of a payment plan, please call our office, a $25.00 deposit is required to hold your child’s place until full payment is received. Full Payment is due no later than April 1. If the deposit is not made within 7 days of registering your camper, your child will be removed from the camp list.

Refund Policy:

If your child is unable to attend camp, we will refund camp fees paid, minus a $25 non-refundable processing fee if you cancel before April 1. No refunds will be issued after April 1, 2026 except in case of medical or family emergency, or camp cancellation by Fluvanna 4-H. Between 2 weeks before and up to the day of camp, if for medical reasons youth are not admitted into camp, a refund minus the required deposit will be provided.

Please note that refunds are processed through Virginia Tech and take approximately 6-8 weeks to process.

When enrolling your child in 4H Online please be sure to:

• Select "Fluvanna" as the Unit/County

• Select "Fluvanna 4-H Camp" for the Club

• Select "Personal Development" for the Project

• List a different emergency contact than parents/guardians listed in the form. Emergency contacts should be a close friend, neighbor, or relative other than the parents. Do not list yourself, as you, as a parent will be contacted first.

Camp Class & Bunkmate Request

Please use the google form emailed by the 4-H Office in May to select your camp  classes and request bunkmates.  Classes will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis.  Classes will only be assigned if you have paid in full and completed 4-H Online Enrollment.

We have very gracious donors that sponsor youth to attend 4-H Camp, if that is something you are interested in, please contact the Extension Office.

Camper Information 

Youth who turn 9 by September 30, 2026, and are no older than 13 by January 1, 2026, can attend as Campers.

For instance, Sally is 8 and will turn 9 on Sept 1, after 4-H Camp.  Because her birthday is before Sept 30, she can go to camp as an 8 year old.  Her friend Joe is 8 and will be 9 on October 15.  He will have to wait until the next year to go to camp.

Teen Counselors are 14 by January 1, 2026 through 19 years old, and have completed the 9th grade.  For information on becoming a Teen Counselor please see the Teens Page.

Counselors In Training (CITs)

CITs are also known as Counselors-in-Training.  While at camp, these youth learn what it takes to be a camp counselor and get the chance to participate in some leadership activities themselves!

If your child turns 13 before January 1, 2026, and will turn 14 by September 30, 2026, they are eligible to attend as a Counselor in Training (CIT) 

There is no separate fee to be a CIT. You pay the regular Camper fee.  There is also no separate enrollment for CITs.  You fill out the regular camp registration form. You are placed in the class automatically depending on your birth date. 

The CIT class will cover leadership skills, how to identify camper issues, and what skill sets counselors need among other topics. This usually is a two-period class in conjunction with Low Ropes, though this is dependent on the number of youth who are eligible to be CITs in a given year.

As a CIT at 4-H Camp, youth are given the opportunity to participate in some leadership roles, though policy doesn't allow for CITs to be in sole control of a group of youth. Examples of leadership roles include: taking attendance, helping at meal times, leading their groups during campfire, etc. 

After camp, CITs are placed on an email list so that when counselor applications become available, they receive them as well. For more information about becoming a counselor, please click on the "Teens" tab.
