In the fall semester of my sophomore year at Virginia Tech, I had the opportunity to be a student under Dale Jenkins in his COMM 2024: Media Writing course. The course, which prides itself as an intuitive experience with writing for media publication, allows students to explore their creative sides through written content projects across the semester.

I was fortunate to see a wealth of growth across the fall semester under Mr. Jenkins. Attached below are a series of works spanning across the semester, including my Press Release, Opinion Piece and my Feature Story.

Press Release

My press released focused on Virginia Tech's celebrations during International Education Week, held from Nov. 11 - Nov. 16, 2024. South Sudanese speaker Mary Maker was to give a speech on the lives of displaced individuals living across the world.

Opinion Piece

My opinion piece largely focuses on the ways individuals with epilepsy are treated in modern society. As someone who lived with epilepsy for a period of my life, this topic was especially close to my heart.

Feature Story

My Feature Story focused largely on the contributions of the Virginia Tech men's basketball team managers. I was tasked with highlighting their roles as not only managers, but team motivators, support systems and friends to the student-athletes on the team.
