Page Layout-- Throughout my visual media class we were presented with challenges and with subjects that we had to cover and this project was one of them.
In this project we had been asked to talk about the T-Shaped student at Virginia Tech. The cover gives a general overview of what is going to be covered in the spread. The group, Shelby Vandergriff, Jessica Mardian, Rachel Gaylord and myself really wanted to emphasize how important students were to this model and to show on the cover how excited students were about the T-shaped model.
In addition, we wanted to highlight the profiles that we featured within the magazine and instead of naming all of them we named a well known professor which we would hopefully draw in others to read the magazine. Our main goal was to make cover that would draw people in to reading the spread that we had put together.
This layout went more in depth about what the T shaped student is, a T- shaped student is one that is encouraged to either pick up another major, minor or take classes outside of the primary major. It is believed to make the student more versatile and more than just specialized in their major.
This spread gave a general outline, then continued to focus on students, a professor and their stories and also gave steps on how to involve themselves in becoming a T-shaped student. The design is meant to be informative but also an easy and fun read!
