I’m excited to introduce myself as the Certified School Counselor at Read-Pattillo Elementary! I’m honored to be part of the Rocket team and look forward to supporting our students and families throughout the 2026–2027 school year. 🚀
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Central Florida in 2006 and my Master of Arts in Counselor Education, School Counseling track, from UCF in 2010. This school year marks my 17th yearin education! 🎉
Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to serve students across all three levels of PK–12 education and have worked in four school districts across two states. During the 2018–2019 school year, I was honored to be named Educator of the Year while serving at a small alternative high school in Kuna, Idaho. I have also served as a Student Staffing Resource Specialist in Seminole County, gaining valuable experience in supporting students with a wide range of educational needs.
At Read-Pattillo, I’m especially excited to support our students by addressing their unique learning needs and serving as the Section 504 Chair. I look forward to partnering with teachers, families, and our school community to help every student feel supported, confident, and ready to soar! 🚀💙
Professionally, I have been a member of the Florida School Counselors Association (FSCA) and the American School Counselor Association (ASCA). I’m currently a member of the Volusia County Counselors Association.
I was born and raised right here in Florida! Outside of school, I love spending time with my daughter and our ever-growing menagerie of animals. 🐔🐾
Gardening is one of my quiet passions, and my collection includes orchids, plumeria, bonsai, and succulents. 🌺🌿 I also enjoy crafting, exotic teas, Cuban coffee, relaxing at the beach, and all things Disney! ✨🏰
If you happen to hear me talking about coral, I’m probably sharing something about my reef tank! 🪸 I also enjoy watching my chickens roam around the yard—although “wreaking havoc” might be the more accurate description! 😂🐓
I’m so happy to be part of the Read-Pattillo family and can’t wait to get to know our students, families, and staff. Here’s to an amazing school year! 🚀💫
When you hear the word hero, you might think of someone with superpowers. But real heroes don't need capes or magical abilities. Christopher Reeve once said, "A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles."
That means a hero is someone who keeps trying, even when things are hard. You can be a hero by asking for help when you need it, being kind to a classmate, practicing something that feels difficult, or getting back up after making a mistake.
Every day, you have chances to show courage, kindness, and perseverance. Remember, being a hero isn't about being perfect—it's about doing your best, learning from challenges, and never giving up.
This week, ask yourself: How can I be a hero by showing kindness, courage, or perseverance today? 💭
If you are so inclined, my Wish List link is included here. Donations are completely optional, but they can help provide additional supplies, resources, and materials that support students’ social-emotional growth and make our counseling space a welcoming and supportive environment. Your generosity helps me offer meaningful activities and resources that benefit our students throughout the school year. 🙏
