Hayden Gregory Rogers, E.I. is a registered Engineering Intern (E.I.) (PE Exam passed, license pending experience) in the State of Tennessee with a Master's Degree in Transportation Civil Engineering focused on traffic, mobility & policy, and safety/operations. He completed his bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a concentration in transportation/traffic and construction engineering at the University of Tennessee - Knoxville as well in May 2023. Hayden completed his first rotation in an internship with the USDOT Federal Highway Administration during the summer of 2021 surveying culverts along the Blue Ridge Parkway in Boone, North Carolina, and Roanoke, Virginia. He returned for his second rotation with FHWA in summer 2022 working in construction along Natchez Trace Parkway; read his article here! Hayden continued this internship in the construction branch through the winter of 2022-2023 & 2023-2024 working on final construction reports and through the summer of 2023 working on Laurel Fork Bridge on Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina. He also worked as a GTA for the Engineering Fundamentals Program for EF 157/EF 158 - Honors Physics for Engineers I & II while completing his Master's and received scholarships from the Tennessee Road Builders Association & the Tickle College of Engineering Professional Practice Office during the 2022-2023 academic year. Hayden is an active ITE Member, on the winning team for the TSITE/SDITE Traffic Bowl, and plans to obtain PTOE and PMP licenses once eligible.
Hayden grew up in Spring Hill, Tennessee, a city just south of Nashville. He also grew up visiting his family's farm in West Tennessee, as well as his father's home in East Tennessee. Hayden's father is a software engineer for Vanderbilt University Medical Center and his mother runs a successful small business while his brother is studying nursing at the University of Tennessee - Knoxville.
When not studying or working, one can find Hayden at the river fishing, with family, or involved in local events (often transportation rooted) throughout Middle Tennessee. Hayden enjoys hiking, hunting, and fishing at his family's farm. He also enjoys working on vehicles; he is always doing something new to his truck. This carries on in his drone hobby; Hayden owns a DJI Phantom 3 Professional and does recreational shoots for friends.
Hayden is involved with the Tennessee Section Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) and was a competitor in the 2024 Traffic Bowl, with his team winning the Tennessee Section. Hayden has also volunteered with Engineers Without Borders at local events in Knoxville and with the Student Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers! He is involved with his hometown church by serving on on the tech team! Hayden interned with the USDOT Federal Highway Administration for the summers of 2021, 2022, & 2023 as well as the winter of 2022-2023 and 2023-2024! Hayden worked at Kohl's Department Stores for nearly four years working in customer service and stockroom operations with multiple Associate of the Month accolades. Hayden also passed his Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam during his senior year of his undergraduate career and has passed his PE Exam, with the experience requirement remaining. He has made the Dean's list several times throughout his college career and has received scholarships for his performance in school, internships, and dedication to the transportation engineering industry.
