Here resides Hayden's Fall 2021 Structures I Project in collaboration with his project team at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Learn more about the structural system redesign of the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge below.
The John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge is a 3,150 Ft long pedestrian bridge crossing the Cumberland River in downtown Nashville, Tennessee. Opening in 1909, JSPB is one of the longest pedestrian bridges in the world and was originally designed for vehicles, but shut down and opened strictly for people in 2003!
Members in compression at the main span are connected at a pin. Hayden Rogers redesigned the vertical member and Devina Langarcia redesigned the the angled member. Both have been redesigned for steel steel and concrete and the best design evaluated.
