Social Studies

This year we will study the fascinating history of California!

We start out by learning about the geography of California, its location on the globe, and its coastal, desert, mountain and valley regions. Then we’ll learn about the first people that arrived in California. ​ We’ll examine some of the California Indian tribes and learn how they used the resources available in their region to live. Later, we’ll learn about European explorers, the mission system, all about the discovery of gold in California, and California statehood.
