Nearly 700 colleges use the Common Application system to process undergraduate admissions application. This page provides a step-by-step guide to completing the Common Application form.

Recommended Application Timeline
2026
Ongoing: Start doing your research and drafting your personal essay. US applications care more about the personal essay than other universities globally, so take this very seriously.
(JC1) December 2026: Suggested 1st SAT / SAT attempt. Take note of registration deadlines that are about one month before each test.
(JC2) June 2026: Suggested last SAT/ACT attempt. (Unlike UK tests, you can attempt SAT/ACT multiple times to achieve your target score).
(JC2) 1 August 2026: Start of application cycle. ECG Committee will conduct a briefing for applicants in early August.
(JC2) 21 August 2026: Deadline to request for recommendation letters from your teachers and indicate your interest in VJC Portal.
(JC2) 31 August 2026: Deadline to send counsellor invitation from Common Application platform to ECG Committee (US Section).
(JC2) 1st week of November 2026: Deadline for Early Decision applications.
(JC3) 1st week of January 2027: Usual deadline for Regular Decision applications. Note that some universities have unusual deadlines.
