Thomas' Collage and Quote

I made this collage art through vector a free graphic design website. To create it I hit the create file button to make a new project. First I hit the grid button at the top and select snapping. This will make it easier too line up the rectangles for the photos. Next you click on the grey rectangle and hover your cursor over one of the outside lines until a blue line appears in the middle, next I dragged it from one of the corners to the middle and adjusted it so it's aligned. Then you click on the color button on the right and change it to image and I copy and pasted them into the other corners. Next you click the plus button in the top right by background to duplicate the square. Then I clicked on one of the images and tapped on the colored box and changed the opacity to 50%. Then I added the colors I wanted and copy and pasted them to the other images. For the text you click on the little "T" on the toolbar on the left, I dragged it in the middle and aligned it perfectly. Next I added the words, my name, favorite food, what I like to do for fun and whats most important to me. I edited the font, size, and the line spacing. For the black squares I dragged another rectangle and dragged it over my longest word. I then copied and pasted it over my words and hit the send to back button on all of the black squares. Finally I aligned the words perfectly in the middle of the black rectangles. What I liked about this project is that is very easy to complete. I learned how to use many of the tools and shapes.

Blind Drawing 4-Ways

I made this using canvas. I made a drawing looking at a photo of me and using the pencil tool to draw. I then changed the color of the background and added shapes of my face to make the final drawing.

Shape a Face

I made these two people in google slides. I used the shape tool to draw different shapes to create these characters. I pressed the paint bucket icon to fill in the shapes with colors.

Halloween Mashup

I made this in Vectr by using the shape tools and added anchor points to the shapes and made the parts of the character. I then added gradients and color schemes to the character. I am most proud of the shape of the pumpkin head because it looks realistic. I learned how to add gradients and colors to shapes.

Self Portrait

I made this using vectr. I used a photo of me and locked it as the background so I could trace it. Then I used shapes tools to make the eyes and the shirt. Finally I filled the shapes and and added a linear gradient to the neck and it was complete. I like how it looks and how simple it is.

PIXLR Name

In Graphic Design class we made our name in that is manipulated into a background. I first search for a background on unsplashed.com and searched for an image that represented something that I am thankful for. I chose the Zion canyon as my parents scheduled a trip there. I downloaded the image and went to pixlr. I then created a new project, selected the image and named it. I added a text box and typed in my name and changed the size and font. I clicked the three dots and changed the blend mode to mask. I moved the text box. Finally I saved it as as a PNG.

Text as Art

This assignment was, quote as art. To make it I first, created a new project in PIXLR E and copied the image of the person who created the quote (Jackie Chan). I then created a text box and copied and pasted the quote until it filled the whole image. Next I changed the font and and duplicated the text in the layers section. I then changed the color of the texts and overlapped them so it made a cool effect. Finlay I added a gradient over the text and cited who created the quote.

Valentine's day cards

I made these using Canva. I made this design using a template and I added text and and I added elements to match the theme.

Copycat

I liked how Paul Rand created his design as he used multiple colors and shapes. I made this in vectr, I used the rectangle tool for the black and white boxes, character's body and the spoon. I then added a circle to the top of the spoon and then added the text. The last step was to make the instrument on the left, I used the pen tool to make the curved and straight lines. I am most proud of how the character looks because I spent most of the time making it as perfect as I could. I could improve the placement of the spoon and black and white boxes. I learned that using different colors and shapes can make a project stand out.

Inspired poster

I made this poster using the vectr. I used the character from Paul Rand's design to create a baseball poster. I recreated the character and copied and pasted them on all the bases. I then made the grass, dirt and bases on the field using the rectangle tool. I added the baseball, bat and some text about the tryout. I am most proud of how the batter looks. I could improve the texture of the field. I learned how to make someone/something face the opposite direction.

8th Grade Promotion Postcard

I made this postcard using VECTR. I began by adding the shark and the VIDA logos. Then I added a background that suited the theme and added text. From this poster I was able to learn proximity. I was most proud of how the shark looked. I could have improved this design by increasing the size of the title.

VUSD Poster Re-Design

I made this poster using VECTR. I started by adding the information and logos. Then I made this wave design underneath the text. Finally I added a background to match the theme. I learned how to align images with text. I was most proud of the wave design. I should have made the outline the wave blue to further improve my poster.

Joke Poster

I made this using VECTR. I started by making the road sidewalk and background. Then I started to make the truck. I used the pen tool to get accurate shapes of the truck. Once I had made truck I filled everything with color. I learned how to make complex shapes using the pen tool. I was most proud of the wheels of the truck. To improve my design I could have added clouds or buildings to fill in the background.

Earth Day Poster

I made this using PIXLR E and VECTR. I first Used VECTR to make the Earth and the stars. I then brought that image to PIXLR. Finally I made the text. I learned how to space my text and images. I was most proud of how the text matches the background. To improve my design I could have made the text at the bottom larger.

Mothers Day Card

I made this using VECTR. I started by making a pattern in the background using squares and rectangles. I then added text and image. I learned how to use the grid feature in VECTR. I was most proud of how the background looks. I could have improved theis by making the image larger to fill in the space.

Summer Fun Camp Poster

I made this using VECTR and PIXLR. I first used VECTR for the text. Then I brought the image to PIXLR and added an image of a clay wheel. I learned how to group related text and separate non related images. I was most proud of the simplicity of the design. I could have added an image instead of the black background.

Sticker Design

I made this sticker in VECTR. I used the pen and shape tools in this design. I started by making the trees, mountains, background, and the lake. I then added gradients to make the sticker look realistic. I learned how to add a realistic theme in my work. I was most proud of the color of the grass and the lake. I could have improved this by making fewer but larger mountains.

VECTR Animal

I made this using VECTR. I used a picture of a German Shepard and tried to replicate it using the pen tool. I learned how to use shadows in my design. I was most proud of the colors and how close they were to the image. I could improve this by drawing the whole dog.

Logo

I made this logo in VECTR. I started by typing the text and finding a font that matches it. I then added a circle and stretched it out between the text. I then adjusted the font size, line spacing, and gradients. I was most proud of the simplicity and how the bottom text looks. I could improve this by flipping the dark and light side of the gradient of the circle.
