COL Presentation

My COL Spring 2019

The COL this spring was very nerve raking for me to share what I've learned throughout the year. I spent time practicing my what I was going to say and make sure I follow my PVLEGSS. Although I was very nervous I stood up. But, once I began talking I was more confident in myself and my presentation. It was fun for my first ever COL and the parents thought it was very good.

My RIASEC codes

My RIASEC code is RCI. These explain who i really am. As I love working with computers, machines, or technology in general. I love creating new projects by operating with equipment to build models or projects. I see myself as well organized and detailed. I value practical tasks, accuracy, and precision. I like to research to find answers. I am curious, and logical. I also investigate things.

What Curiosity means to me

Curiosity means to be wondering and questioning to learn more about something. I use curiosity everyday to learn more of our history or our cultures. Without curiosity we wouldn't know anything about technology or about our solar system. If we didn't think outside of the box we would all do and be the same thing.

Why VIDA?

I come to VIDA everyday because it is very fun and exiting environment, and my parents force me to go to school. The design EXPO was a new experience. I walked around filling out my passport. I was not able to cooperate in my teacher's murder mystery as there was no sign up sheets. I learned more about the ASB, who is in it, and how it works.

Design Challenge

In the first design challenge we started making one point perspective drawings. We then made a name tag with the skills we learned about one point perspective. Today we finished making this jellyfish. I decided to make a jelly because they are important in the food chain. First I made the bell of the jelly by making two half circles and taping it to a long strip of cardboard. I then made the curved top piece by scoring the cardboard to complete the jelly. Then I decorated the jelly with tissue paper to make it look like a pinata. I lastly added some tissue paper and string for the tentacles. During this design challenge I learned how to score cardboard and make one point perspective drawings. I am most proud of how it looks. I was surprised when we had to drill the hole in the top of the bell so we can hang it.

Thrively Empathy Lesson

  1. What is empathy to you? Why is empathy important? Empathy to me is to step in in someones shoes and see what is in in their perspective. Empathy is important to help others that are down or having a bad day, they could be sitting alone or look sad and depressed.

  2. How do you think you can show more empathy? Do you think it is important for you and others to have more empathy at school or in the world? Why or why not? I can show more empathy by connecting with others. I think it's important to have empathy at school and in the real world because we need to help others no matter the situation or place.

  3. What stood out to you in this video? How did these characters demonstrate empathy? How can you help create a world like this through your daily actions? Share in detail below. With just one person helping another made a chain reaction of many people. They helped them whether they needed help carrying something or they dropped and forgot something. We can help others by giving them food and help people carry groceries to their cars.
