My name is Michele Paredes. I joined Vista Unified School District in October 2021 as an English Language Development Resource Teacher (ELD RT) for the Multilingual Education Department. I began my career in education in 2003 when I became an Elementary School Teacher teaching grades 1-6 for 12 years at the Anaheim City School District. When my family and I moved from Riverside County to North San Diego in 2014, I worked in the Fallbrook Union Elementary School District as an ELD Teacher at the Junior High level, and a 6th grade teacher at the elementary level. In my 19 years as a teacher, I've had the opportunity to serve the community in various roles and capacities:
Taught multilingual students of diverse backgrounds in 1st through 8th grades in Structured English Immersion (SEI), and Mainstream classes.
Served parents and teachers on English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC), District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC), and School Site Council (SSC), serving in roles as an adviser to the school Principal on English Learner Programs and SSC.
Supported teachers in grades 7 & 8 as a Content Resource Teacher.
During the 2021-2022 school year, I joined VUSD's Multilingual Education Department as an ELD Resource Teacher at VIDA, Magnet Middle School. I am excited to start a new adventure as the ELD RT at Madison Middle School for the 2022-2023 school year. In my capacity as ELD RT, I have taken a prominent role on the Multilingual Education Department leadership team by serving as a member of several District committees and Task Forces, working with State, County, and District level members to help shape the future of Multilingual Education.
