Teacher Bio

Hello VIDA Shaks and families!

I am Joe Armenta, Wellness Department Chair and Encuentros teacher. I have been at VIDA for 9 enjoyable years. I love teaching sports and fitness and enjoy mentoring young people in my Encuentros program. I am very supportive, fair, understanding, and enthusiastic. I hope you enjoy being a student at VIDA!

I have been a teacher in Vista Unified School District for 13 years. I have been a middle school teacher here for 10. I received my Bachelor's degree in History from the University of Maryland. I received my Masters degree in Educational Technology from National University. I aspire to complete a doctoral program in the next 5 years related to educational technology. I serve on site leadership, school site council, district council on PE, and am currently the VIDA VTA rep.

I will make sure all students are treated fairly, that concerns are addressed professionally and with empathy, and that kids are provided safe and fun activities to become more healthy and knowledgeable about fitness and health. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns. I can be reached via email at josepharmenta@vistausd.org and respond to all emails within 24 hours. I try my hardest to make every day the most enjoyable experience possible for all my students!
