"Design Defense"

The Final Component of AP²EX is a "Design Defense."

The best way to explain this is it is a cross between a "Pitch" and a COL.

Six Areas of Focus:

1. Introduce yourself. Think about what we asked you to do on your Personal Brand websites, the front page. Make sure you are in 1st person, not 3rd for your presentation.

2. Share about the Design Challenge you did:

   • Title of Project

   • User

   • Empathy gathering (what you did, and what you learned)

   • Need Statement

   • Ideation Process (evidence of your process and creativity)

3. Pitch your Prototype

   • The pitch will include a slide deck focusing on visual storytelling (use of images)

   • Actual product for the user - explain the needs of the user, the product and how the product meets those needs.

4. Dimensions of Product Design

   • Explain the Dimension(s) of Product Design that you incorporated into your Prototype.

   • Must include at least one Dimension in your Prototype

   • We want to have you explain how you learned to master the Dimension

   • We want to see how and why you incorporated it into your Prototype

5. Reflection: What did you learn through this process? What did you learn about yourself through this process, etc? How will the type of thinking you used and the skills you got a designer be useful to you in the future? → WHY DOES THIS MATTER!!!!!!!! You learned, you proved something, you helped someone.
