I really like this class, and think it was a good gateway into what I should expect from highschool. I certainly could have turned in more of my work and got a better grade but in the end I'll say it was a good semester. But I need to fill out some requirements so here we are.
Growth: I have always loved reading research papers since I was in 3rd grade,. Doesn't mean I was good at it. I remember I got the book worm award from that class, good memories. Anyway this class really helped me read papers proffesionally. Actually able to retain the information I read is shockingly helpfull. So yea thats how I grew this year, if I ever go to collage then yea this is gonna help.
Global Citizenship: Ok this one I'm gonna struggle on. I chose dinosaurs to be my main topic of research and Taiwan was formed after all of them died. So unless you count the animatronics at the National Taiwanese Museum (which is awesome might I add), I don't think my research helps to much. But in 2023, Tsai Cheng-hsiu, managed to be the first one to ever find a Dinosaur fossil in Taiwan (This was an 800,000 year old bird, he debated that since birds are ancestors it counts). So who knows what else it out there is taiwan.
Ok so to unpack here, I hard pivoted, my original topic was what made dinosaurs scary right. Well that changed to what there hunting patterns were to "The Bastardization of The Velociraptor." This does mean that most my peer feedback was thrown out the window but you know. In the end my main audience was Kevin (one of my classmates), so someone who's pretty new to dinosaurs but knows enough about the topic to know all the names. My assignment was structured very loosely. Something I realized was since I fell asleep listening to a documentary about Chris Chan, some of him got imbued into my work, for anyone that doesn't know who that is, it's not a good thing. So the structure was introducing my thought process and how i came up with the idea, than I went into some general facts before typing in all caps. This was to show how strongly I felt about the subject, of course it was purely for effect. Most research I did came from old interviews with the writer of Jurrasic Park, and alot of new research on Velociraptors and Deinonychus.
