Week one

Field Trip to PX Mart

So everyone in class got divided up to study different stores and markets around our areas to see what foods are available and their price. I went to PX mart and they had every food on the list because PX mart is the best store in Taiwan. Then I compared my list with people that went to Carrefour and Nanmen Market. PX mart had less food but it's the greatest store because Carrefour was pricey.

Supply Chain

This project was jolly as can be since I worked with Mason (friend.) We chose Oreo and just had to well find out the Supply chain. It starts off as cocoa, wheat, sugarcane, and different type of oils. The wheat and sugarcane are turned into flour and cane sugar and sent to the Oreo factory (now in 18 countries.) It's then processed and sealed tight to preserve the oreoness of an Oreo. Finally it's at the store for you to buy. As far as first projects go, it was quick, simple, and just educational enough to matter.

Food Chemisty

I loved this one but I had no Mason. And even worse I had to learn about french fries. I was so happy learning about eggs and bloom and how we wash off the natural egg protection for cleaner eggs. But my teammate didn't do work on his part so I had to learn about something I didn't really care about

Reflection

So this year we're doing food science. It has science in the name so I'm already excited. When I was like 10, my favorite thing in the whole wide world was the science fair. I researched the stars and light waves. Though I never did anything food related. Closest thing to this topic I've done is eating a pack of mentos with a coke (and I guess food decomposition plus mold growth.)

Week two

A Better Supply Chain

Did you know beef is bad for the enviroment? Cows release alot of methane and methane is bad. So how do we stop this, red seaweed. It's sick. :D it's still in research but if it gets used by like every rancher, it would cut down methane up to 90%. It would also cost an arm and a leg. So that was one of our solutions to a better supply chain.

Reflection

Today is a very sad day, I have realized that I forgot to finish my gsp. Course I'm doing it now but can' t get them points back :(

So I made this video about the KFC chicken shortage of 2018, I just took a a bunch of images and threw them into Davinchi. Wrote a script based off my teammates research and had them record it. Editing takes long took me like 2 hours (while doing other homework.) We got our info straight from the source, KFC and it's UK marketing campain. They had very funny reaction to the shortage.
