DRYVE

Dryve is a transportation app for people with special needs, including dementia patients. It offers safe and reliable transport, user-friendly features, real-time tracking, and personalised support, promoting independence and peace of mind for families.

Design challenge

The design challenge was to identify a need for a specific persona spectrum and providing a solution in a native application and one alternative interface design. In addition to this, the chosen platform’s design guidelines and accessibility principles needed to be applied as well.

PROBLEM

Elsa, the chosen persona, is struggling with getting from one place to another in a safe, responsible and reliable manner. She is feeling frustrated that she needs to depend on her family to get to work.

SOLUTION

Equip dementia patients with alternative, independent transportation options to have them stay independent and employed for as long as possible. This will be achieved by having a dependable and safe alternative mode of transportation.

DESIGN FRAME

"How might we empower younger dementia patients to transport where they need to go in a way that maintains their independence?"

PERSONA & INSIGHTS

ELSA SMITH

A recently diagnosed baker and bakery owner with young onset dementia seeks to live a fulfilling life for as long as possible, supported by her husband, while worrying about the impact of personality changes on her relationships.

Digital wireframes

After some initial sketching, I moved on to digital wireframes and a wireflow to get a general feeling for the flow of the application and the features and functions that will be implemented

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, this design challenge was very insightful as the aim was to do inclusive and accessible design. As a designer, I learned a lot about accessibility and about using an existing design guide in my interfaces. Overall, this was a successful project!
