In Fall 2022, we partnered with Ruffin Hall's sculpture studio to provide a closer and cheaper alternative to our traditional classes at CityClay. This on-grounds studio offers free access to clay, tools, glazes, and kiln firings.
We offer studio sessions designed for independent work. A member of the hand-building committee will always be present for supervision. The studio has: open work space, shelf space, 2 throwing wheels, a slab roller, and a kiln.
Disclaimer: We are using Ruffin Hall, which means students enrolled in the UVA art department classes will get first priority. There may be artwork on the tables and they may be in the room working. Please work around them and please do not move or touch their artwork.
Announcements about sign-ups will be released twice a semester! These will be posted on the listserv and on GroupMe, so please join them to stay updated.
Required:
Before allowing to use the studio space, please fill out the two safety videos and liability forms.
