Sugar Control

The American Heart Association recommends women and men respectively have no more than 25 and 37.5 grams of sugar per day, respectively. Aim to not eat foods with added sugars! Psst! Flours and starches turn into sugar once in your body, so those count, too.


AVOID

  1. Brown sugar
  2. Corn syrup
  3. Dextrose
  4. Fructose
  5. Galactose
  6. Glucose
  7. High Fructose Corn Syrup

Risk & Disease

  • Weight Gain - especially belly fat
  • Decreased good cholesterol / increased Triglycerides
  • Diabetes risk - Elevated Blood Sugar
  • High Blood Pressure from inflamed blood vessels

Type 2 Diabetes : A chronic condition - The body cannot absorb/reduce blood sugar, and the sugar in the blood injures most organ systems and circulation.

Symptoms: Increased Thirst, Frequent urination, Hunger, Fatigue, Blurred Vision.

  • Try to avoid or limit foods/drinks with sugar as one of the first few ingredients.
  • Ingredients are listed in order of weight, so if any type of sugar is listed first, there's more of that than every other ingredient.
