Internship and Job search service for college students. Many students apply for internships through Handshake and also find out about different opportunities through it. It also allows you to connect and network with other students and recruiters.
Internships: usually occur in the summer time and are paid depending on the company and role
Co-ops: occur during the school semester and students take a few classes along with their Co-op. Students will receive school credit for the Co-op. VSB offers many Co-op opportunities with companies like Johnson & Johnson, TJX, Bryant Park Capital Investment Bank, and SAP.
Externships: A few days long and occur usually in the summer for students to explore different companies and network with professionals in fields they are interested in. A great opportunity to take advantage of for freshmen and sophomores to get their foot in the door and get a head start on networking before junior year.
The Spring Accounting Internship (SAI) is a full-time paid experience enabling the student to learn accounting, auditing, tax, and/or consulting techniques and objectives while obtaining practical exposure to the accounting/business environment and earning six credits. SAI occurs from January to April.
Companies come to Bartley Hall and typically "take over" the Atrium for the entire week. They set up information tables to speak with students about internship opportunities as well as host many information sessions and networking sessions. The Big 4 Firms (Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG) are some of the more popular companies that partake in Bartley Takeover.
Big banks from Wall Street hold information sessions in the Spring Semester to inform students of the recruitment process and how to be prepared. Banks like Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Bank of America, TD, Stifel, Moelis & Co, Nomura, abd Bank of Montreal (BMO) participate.
