Welcome to the website of the Zamboanga Sibugay Sustainable Fisheries Program! This site is managed by the Provincial Government of Zamboanga Sibugay, the Coalition of Municipal Fisherfolk Associations of Zamboanga Sibugay (COMFAS), Xavier Agricultural Extension Services Foundation, Inc. (XAES-FI), Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region 9 (DENR9), Department of Agriculture - Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 9 (BFAR9), and Rare.
Navigation is provided through a top-level menu split into sections. As well as providing information about the Zamboanga Sibugay brand, the website acts as a data asset manager to information and resources that are readily available about the Zamboanga Sibugay Sustainable Fisheries Program on third party websites.
All resources are royalty-free, subject to copyright or other intellectual property rights. They may be downloaded or used for non-commercial purposes.
UPDATES
The campaign brand with the slogan, Abundang Dagat ug Yuta, Sibugay Molahutay envisions to build stronger cultural and ecological connections between the communities and their diverse coastal ecosystems.
Led by the Office of the Governor through the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), the sub-national brand launch is set on April 6 during the Municipal Coastal Zoning and Managed Access and Reserves (MA+R) Design Workshop for 2nd district municipalities surrounding Sibuguey Bay. Partners from government line agencies, local government units, and various organizations including the fishery sector are expected to join the virtual event.

PARTNERSHIP FOR SUSTAINABILITY. October 8, 2020. PDRRMO Multi-Purpose Building. The Provincial Government of Zamboanga Sibugay represented by Gov. Wilter Y. Palma entered into a Memorandum of Agreement with the Coalition of Municipal Fisherfolk Associations of Zamboanga Sibugay (COMFAS) represented by its chairperson, Mr. Roberto Ballon Jr., Xavier Agricultural Extension Services Foundation, Inc. (XAES-FI) represented by its executive director, Nestor Carbonera, and Rare, Inc. represented by its vice president for the Philippines, Ms. Rocky Sanchez Tirona. The partnership aims to strengthen efforts to sustainably manage the fisheries and coastal resources of Zamboanga Sibugay. The municipal mayors were also present to witness the event.
FISH FOREVER SAVINGS CLUB. December 12, 2020. Barangay Magdaup, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay. Members of the Katipunan Vegetable and Agar-agar Growers Association (KVAGA) have saved a total amount of PHP 66,699 from February 29 to December 12, 2020 using their own financial capital. The Fish Forever Savings Club hopes to instill the value of savings in fisher households to keep them afloat during shocks and stresses, including lean season. The savings club initiative has also been adopted by the fishing communities in the municipalities of Ipil, Naga, Siay, Tungawan, Kabasalan, and Alicia.
