ABSTRACT VOLUME OF THE NATIONAL SATELLITE SYMPOSIUM ON RS-GIS-AI
Released on the occasion of the One-Day National Satellite Symposium on "Contribution of Remote Sensing - Geographic Information System (RS-GIS) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) on opening a new research sphere in Biological Sciences" held on 22-03-2024 in collaboration with Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira, Belur, Howrah As per the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), dated: 12-01-2024. In total 70 (seventy) abstracts have been submitted by the participants from various colleges, universities and research institutes.
SUVENIER FOR THE ANNUAL REUNION 2024
The Department of Zoology (UG & PG), Asutosh College has published an E-Souvenir on the occasion of the Alumni Meet cum Reunion comprising contributions from alumni, students, and Ex- and present faculty members. The book encompasses essays, memoirs, travelogues, poetry, paintings, and photographs. Dr. Arijit Chaterjee, who designed the cover of the book, is also an alumnus of this department. 'Footprints Forever' celebrates the global progress and pursuits of the alumni members as the cover content depicts the global reach of the alumni. They travelled all corners for further studies, research, and faculty positions, in the process propagating the name of Asutosh College. The grand annual alumni meet has been organized on Sunday, 9th June.
E-BOOKLET ON COLLECTION OF ESSAYS ON FROG CONSERVATION
In 2024, SAVE THE FROGS! India, under the guidance of Sarbani Nag , launched an internship program in partnership with the Department of Zoology (Department of Zoology, Asutosh College) at Asutosh College, Kolkata along with Eleven young interns from the 2023 undergraduate batch, played a key role in spreading amphibian awareness through various initiatives. One highlight was the launch of the Froggy Fables essay competition, which encouraged participants to express the importance of amphibian conservation through creative writing. Promoted across multiple platforms, the competition attracted over 50 global entries from institutions in the USA, India, and Switzerland. The essays highlighted frogs as essential guardians of wetlands and emphasized their crucial role in maintaining environmental health. The Top 23 essays were featured in the Froggy Fables online booklet, and all participants received e-certificates. This initiative successfully inspired students in West Bengal and beyond to learn about amphibians, their unique adaptations, and the importance of protecting them. The program not only celebrated the interns’ dedication but also fostered a greater understanding of amphibian conservation in the global community.
