As the intelligent sapient species endemic to Alphaland, Alphablocks do have many subspecies filling each niche they could find in their home continent. There are currently three Alphablock subspecies being discovered; the Common Alphablock (P. g. vulgaris), the Desert Alphablock (P. g. desertum) and the Blind Alphablock (P. g. anophthalmia).
Plakasoma grammakephalus vulgaris, a.k.a the common Alphablock or simply Alphablock, is the most widespread and succesful subspecies of Alphablock. They mostly inhabit the peaceful and humid plains and can be sometimes seen in their own cities and villages. They are also the most developed out of all the species.
This subspecies has flat soles, small pupils, and big eyes. They are very friendly and extremely social creatures and form complex societies. Common Alphablocks tend to build settlements of civilisations from small villages to large, bustling cities like Capital City. They also made up a majority of Alphaland's history.
There are a few instances of predators that are known for hunting and eating Alphablocks. One example of this is the Boulderholder. Boulderholder get their name from their hunting method, which is by dropping huge, heavy objects, usually a boulder, on their prey's head. Boulderholders tend to hunt Alphablocks at unexpected times as it also uses the element of surprise to get their prey. Despite their well known predation on Alphablocks, they usually target hard-shelled animals like bugbulls.
Common Alphablocks tend to do agriculture and livestock herding. Plants like the fire grain, budding tomato and the blockmelon have been harvested and consumed for centuries. Delicacies of the Common Alphablock include powder puchi, skewed foxtails and the Goblot (bugbull meat). Alphablocks also herd certain species of bugbull, whether it's for their milk, meat or armour, along with legged clouds and grubcattles. Bugbull milk is said to have a sweet taste and its taste is comparable to that of probiotic yogurt. Bugbull meat is also considered a delicacy and is usually served with budding tomato slices.
Plakasoma grammakephalus desertum, most commonly known as the Desert Alphablock is a subspecies of Alphablock that is mostly found in the hot and dry areas of Alphaland. Their habitat is the scorching deserts of Parts of Speech Canyon.
The Desert Alphablock differs from their common counterpart with unevenly-shaped soles, larger pupils and a more bolder colour. They also have a drastically different diet from their common relative, which are insects and small lizards. Due to their unique diet, Desert Alphablocks have slightly sharper canines to pierce the flesh of lizards. Like the Common Alphablocks, Desert Alphablocks do form their own communities and build small villages with houses made out of huge boulders.
In Desert Alphablock society, a few number of Desert Alphablocks used to be selected to fetch water for their villages in the day. The minimum is 5 while the maximum can be up to 9. In the deserts, water is usually found in funnelplants and water collectors would have to risk their lives just to rehydrate their villages. Dangers ranging from venomous predators like the Walrustoothed Slink to dehydration are the main risks the collectors have to face and avoid in order to serve their societies. Recently, they have found an abundance of water in the rivers and have since constructed their villages here, reducing the risk-inducing task for the water collectors.
Desert Alphablocks are nocturnal and come out at night mainly to hunt. A few traditions can be found in the Desert Alphablocks' society, one of the most notable events like Drpip pip. Drpip pip is a traditional event that occurs whenever rain occurs in their area. Desert Alphablocks will grab their water-collecting dish made out of the base of a funnelplant and collect as much water as possible. The Desert Alphablocks greatly believe that rain is a sacred phenomenon and that it symbolises good blessings to their villages. Another notable holiday is Plifipi where young blocklings play with glowflies to celebrate them reaching their first yung age.
Desert Alphablocks tend to raise and herd Scalyshelled Bugbulls as one of their valueable livestock, source of milk and armour, and main transportation. Each villager at least have one bugbull to raise, while the village elder can have as much ad 5 of them. Desert Alphablocks also have a fair share of delicacies, like stuffed beefles, sweet eints and piyta juice.
Plakasoma grammakephalus anophthalmia, more commonly known as the Blind Alphablock, is a rather extraordinary subspecies that dwells in the deep caves located in the deserts of Gytra, which is located at the north of Letter Forest. When Zontouvlakologists first found this subspecies, they were rather baffled at the discovery because of its strange placement, but one plausible theory states that a group of Alphablocks may have been trapped in the cave millions of years ago, either during a landslide or an earthquake.
The Blind Alphablock are well known for their tiny eyes. The reduction of eye size is due to them spending a majority of their time in the darkness, as well as their all-time reliance on echolocation. Blink Alphablocks communicate through high pitched squeaks of their letter sounds in order to communicate to eachother. Despite their name, Blind Alphablocks aren't actually blind and just developed poor eyesight. They're also seen eating darkmoths and other insects dwelling in the caves as well. Blind Alphablocks are generally docile due to a lack of natural predators and form complex and deep connections with their friends. Blind Alphablocks tend to build colonies of mud and stone huts where they usually socialise and raise their young.
