The Bio-Thermal Research Lab (BTR) at the University of South Florida is dedicated to researching heat transfer and biological changes in biological systems during/after thermal manipulations (especially heating or cooling). Our goal is to utilize heat transfer to enhance the overall viability of cryopreservation of various biological systems, aiming to maintain biodiversity, advance healthcare, and address food sustainability. Our current research is broadly in the scientific fields of heat transfer, cryobiology (low-temperature biology), marine science, and micro/nanofabrication, with a particular focus on the following application areas:Â
(1) Cryopreservation system design and advanced rewarming technologies. (2) Cryopreservation of marine life and cell products. (3) New cryoprotectant agent (CPA) design. (4) Supply Chain for cryopreservation.
