Live Paint
For this assignment we practiced using the live paint tool. This was a fun an interesting tool to use because it allowed you to make certain sections of the outline a differnet color. This gave you a lot of freedom to how you wanted yor final product to look. I look forward to using this tool with my other creations! It really makes your work look finished and colorful.
Elephant Drawing
I liked this assignment a lot. I liked picking different colors that went well together and that looked well together. I also liked that we could add different subjects to the work and play around with what it looked like. Also the fact that you could pick different shades of the colors that you wanted to use was also really cool. I really enjoyed this more than photoshop because it was just more fun. I also feel like some of the tools are easier to use. This also feels more creative to me and like you have more control which was enjoyable.
Shape builder (Color Wheel)
For this assignment we used the shape builder tool to create a color wheel! First we made a circle and then created lines and arranged them to create an outline for a color wheel. Then we practiced using the eyedropper tool to get the right color in each section. I enjoyed this assignment because I really liked the finished product and the beautiful color wheel that I had at the end. Maybe later I will explore trying to add an image to my wheel!
Image Trace
I thought this assignment was really cool! I never knew you could do something like this. I like how this image trace tool can make your photos look like a paint by number. I also like on the different settings that you can put it on. My favorite setting was the 6 color one and that is the one that I put on this photo. I really want to use this tool more often because I think it is super cool.
Boxes
For this assignment we had to use multiple tools in order to complete it. We used the shape builder, live paint and other tools like the shape tool and the pen tool. I really enjoyed this assignment but I did run into a few challenges on the way. I was able to design the boxes just fine. I even used the pen tool which I have never used before. But when it came to coloring the squares I struggled a little bit. The first round I colored them and looked good but they looked too much like a checkerboard. Meaning they were not arranged in the right way. Also wanted the colors to be a little more simple than I made them. So I made the colors more simple but I realized that the final product still was not going to look the way that I wanted to look. So the third time I tried again and I finally got the result that I wanted. I think it turned out looking pretty cool in the end and I really like the colors that I picked.
Infographic
For this project I choose to talk about coffee just because I like it so much! I try to stay with one color palette, colors similar to coffee. The typeface that I used for most of the infographic is AkayaKanadaka-Regular. But I also used Academy Engraved LET Plain and Noteworthy. I got most of my information from the internet, mostly stats about women and men and how much coffee they drink. I tried to combine a lot of skills that I learned this semester. I use the image trace tool a lot to make photos match the vibe of the entire piece. I tried to use contrasting colors for the text and the background. I also choose small and large text contrasts the way they look on the page. This is my first ever infographic so it could be improved in some ways but I think I did a pretty good job.
