I completed my internship at Closet Comunicación, a creative marketing and communications agency located in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. The internship took place from March 17 to April 25, 2025. Closet Comunicación is a small agency of six team members that specializes in digital marketing, social media management, branding, graphic design, and public relations. Working in this environment allowed me to gain hands-on experience in international business communication within a Spanish professional setting.
During my internship, I was primarily responsible for assisting with digital marketing strategy and content planning. I helped organize and schedule social media content using platforms such as Milanote and Metricool, which strengthened my understanding of how data analysis and creativity work together in effective digital campaigns. I also contributed to the creation of a LinkedIn account for a new client, Overa, ensuring that the visual and written communication aligned with the company’s professional identity. Additionally, I supported the organization of a media and business contact database, which deepened my understanding of public relations and the importance of professional networks.
Beyond my daily responsibilities, I had the opportunity to attend the Foro Gastronómico in A Coruña with the marketing director. We represented Birdmind, a sustainable furniture brand that uses rice waste materials. At the event, I created visual content, took photos and videos, and edited social media clips using CapCut. This experience allowed me to engage directly with clients, observe brand representation in a live setting, and practice professional Spanish communication. It also connected marketing with sustainability, an area that increasingly interests me.
This internship was both professionally and personally transformative. Professionally, I developed technical skills in digital tools, improved my strategic thinking about branding, and gained confidence communicating in Spanish in a business environment. Personally, I learned to adapt to a different work culture. The Spanish workplace emphasized collaboration, flexibility, and strong interpersonal relationships. While different from the more structured environments I was used to in the United States, this approach fostered creativity and teamwork. The experience strengthened my intercultural communication skills and confirmed my desire to pursue a career that combines international business, marketing, and cross-cultural collaboration.
Overall, my time at Closet Comunicación helped me grow as a communicator, a professional, and an individual preparing for an international career.
Pictures from one of the highlights of my internship: attending the Galician Gastronomic Forum with a client whose sustainable rice-based tables were used to showcase various chefs’ creations, which were later broadcast on television. One of my responsibilities that day was to document the event by capturing photos and videos of the tables in use for social media content. I truly enjoyed the experience, as it was very hands-on, dynamic, and exciting.
