Grounding is a variant of mindfulness practice designed to connect you with the present moment. These techniques often use the five senses—sound, touch, smell, taste, and sight—to anchor you in the here and now. Grounding helps you to focus on what is physically happening to your body and in your surrounding environment with the larger goal of distracting your mind from what is making you feel dysregulated.
