When you begin feeling stressed, your body naturally goes into“fight, flight or freeze” mode. In these moments, our breathing can become faster as your body prepares to fight or flee, or it can stop completely as a component of the freeze response. The goal of deep breathing is to divert your body from this state and anchor yourself in the present moment. Your body then releases the negative toxins from your body, which decreases stress and helps you feel calmer.
