There are 81 families of beneficiaries in four communities of Beraid. With the migration of rural areas to the city, there is a demographic shift that has affected the livelihood of the people of this area. The river is now filled with sand known as ‘Balu nodi’. Where people used to do farming and fishing in the river, are looking for new job opportunities.
The project includes workshops on design techniques, applique, and hand stitching works. It consisted of a series of 8 workshops accommodating 30 interested women who had never engaged in professional handcrafting before. However, their enthusiasm to learn was evident, and a number of them displayed the potential to work professionally in the future even though some of them held scissors for the first time in the workshop.
