Course Description:
This was a summer hybrid course. It combined all three classes into one session of class that involved in class work on the Michigan State campus and online work at home. It was an intense look into the world of educational technology and the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) system. We had a lot of hands on experience in the maker field with a culmination of creating and participating in a maker fair on the M.S.U. campus. I learned how to create a well designed lesson plan that incorporates technology. I taught myself how to complete a task I had never done before using only YouTube videos and discussion boards. We spent time learning how to learn using only online sources. I was able to learn about social presence and what I could do to teach young students how to behave on the internet. We completed the hybrid course with a look into a Wicked Problem, a problem which has no solution. The readings and course work were well structured and organized in a way to help me become a better student and teacher. It was an incredible experience being able to learn from fellow educators from all around the country.

Course Description:
This was also a summer hybrid section of classes. For this session we focused on how the brain works and learns, how motivation works, and how people react and learn. We researched the brain and looked into why people make the decisions they do and how we can help them in certain scenarios. I also learned about how people learn, which really helps change the way you think about education and learning. Time was spent on motivation and what gets people to do what they may not want to do. We put together projects to help us understand certain aspects of learning and thinking. I learned how to give someone three pieces of information in only three minuets. I also spent time sharing and learning new ideas from many different educators from around the world. We worked on an understanding understanding project that had me and a group look into what people think of cloud based systems. We also worked on a Dream IT project that had the students focus on something that could help them become better educators. I focused on how to make students become historians, while maintaining their fact based learning for standardized testing.

Course Description:
This course was designed to help teachers become better at teaching reading. We worked through content that helped us understand how to teach students to become better readers. We also worked through a project where we took a students and focused on what they needed to do to become a better reader and then implement practices for them to change their reading habits. By the end I could better understand how to incorporate reading into the classroom and how to help students become better readers.

Course Description:
This course helped teach me how to better assess my students. After looking through in depth readings and content we created a rubric to help us determine what a good assessment should look like. We created a formative assessment for our class to help us put together an assessment that was peer reviewed and would pass our previously created rubric. We also worked on putting the formative assessment into an online content management system (CMS). At the end we were able to also test our assessment skills by building an assessment into a Minecraft game.
Instructor(s): Dr. Anne Heintz and Swati Mehta
Course Description:
This course helped me design of an online or hybrid course for my students. By discussing and exploring various course management systems, I found a version of a content management system (CMS) that would help me integrate a hybrid learning opportunity into my classroom. My final product was a web version of a unit I could conduct with my students at school and at home that helped reinforce the content we were learning in class. This class was very beneficial in learning about how to teach an online class and what needs to be done to help students in an online environment.
Instructor(s): Matthew Koehler, Aric Gaunt, Sarah Keenan, and Brittany Dillman
Course Description:
This was the final course in the Master of Arts in Educational Technology program. It helped us create an online portfolio to share and use as educators in the future. The portfolio helped showcase the work and learning we completed during our master's program and also created an online presence for either students, teachers, other professionals, or potential employers to see.
