Internship

About the Internship

Dr. Deanna Reinoso and the Social Determinants of Health team at Eskenazi are doing diaper need research surveys because they have seen that in the last couple of years, diaper need has increased with the onset of COVID. With the surveys, they are screening people for unmet diaper need,  and providing it through a federal healthcare system. For the Culturally Tailored Food Pantry, they are surveying those who are at risk for food insecurity and providing them food that it tailored to different cultures food and eating lifestyles. This build relationships throughout the community; many times the food is also a lot healthier as well. They hope to instill/continue and grow the program and the resources that they've built so that more of the public will be able to have access and not worry about things like food and diapers.

Workplace

My greatest strengths as a team member is my ability to adapt and to communicate my concerns. In my internship, we are giving surveys and interacting with many patients. Sometimes, families ask me questions that I don't know the answers to, and I always make sure to  check with my supervisor to get those concerns answered. This year, as a professional, I want to grow as a independdent and more confident person. I want to grow to be a person who is confident in her abilities of giving out surveys and answering questions that any patient parent might have on the diaper need survey.
