Reaction force measurement

Almost all the machines consists of some active mechanism. It’s very important to know the magnitude and nature of forces acting in the mechanism and the forces exerted by the mechanism on the machine for proper designing of the structures. The forces in dynamic system is difficult to analysis as the magnitude as well as the direction of forces are changing with time. Moreover characteristics like friction force , torques etc. are also not constant over the operation of the system. Theoretical calculation of dynamic system requires principle of virtual work and D’Alembert principle to solve for the dynamic loads. While experimental setup needs real time data acquisition to plot the nature of forces.

The internal combustion engine impart forces on the chassis while operating. This could leads to chassis failure if not considered while designing the chassis of the car. The design of engine mountings needs a detail idea of the forces acting of these mounting points. These loads changes with different parameters such as engine rpm ,engine load etc. Having a complete knowledge of these forces would help the engineers to design a robust structure to bear all the stresses generated.
