Sep.3-5, 2025: Dr. Yoon attended the NSF DCSD (Dynamics, Control, System Diagnostics) PI meeting at the NSF Headquarter in Alexandria VA, and gave a poster presentation about our work on hydraulic system diagnostic.

Aug. 27, 2025: Our group visited the Evolution in Auburn Hills, and toured their engineering facilities. Thank you Tom Rinke for accommodating our visit. Look forward to potential collaboration in the near future.

Aug.14, 2025: Our group (Dr. Yoon, Amir, Weichen, Gray, Nirav, Arya) gathered for group lunch at the OU Golf Club House to celebrate the successful completion of Summer 2025. I deeply appreciate the group's hard work and contributions throughout the summer. Nirav and Arya, I wish you the very best in your future endeavors!

July 23, 2025: Gray ("Development of a Lab-Scale Electrified Excavator for Controls and Diagnostics Research"), Nirav and Arya ("Design and Implementation of Hydrostatic System in Vehicle") presented their posters, at Mid-Sure in East Lansing, MI. Well done!, So proud of you!

July 10, 2025: Amir presented his work, "Tri-Level Control Co-Design for Series Electric-Hydraulic Hybrid Vehicles", at ACC 2025 in Denver, CO. Well done!

June 24, 2025: Weichen's paper, titled "Electro-Hydraulic System Diagnostics based Adaptation and Frequency Domain Analysis of a Nonlinear Inverse Model", has been accepted for the Mechatronics Invited Session at MECC 2025 with very positive reviews. Congratulations, Weichen!

May 2025: Nirav Kumar Batlada (A Rising Sophomore at MSU) and Arya Rukadikar (A Rising Sophomore at the UM) have joined our group as Summer Undergraduate Research Interns. They will support the project on building an electric-hydraulic hybrid vehicle during this summer. Welcome, Nirav and Arya! 

May 13, 2025: Gray Pingston, an OU Senior Student, has joined our group as an Undergraduate Research Assistant. She will support the ongoing NSF ERI project until December 2025. Welcome, Gray!

April 8, 2025: Amir gave a presentation at the SAE WCX in Detroit on his paper titled: "Bi-Level Control Co-Design for Parallel Electric-Hydraulic Hybrid Vehicles". Well done!

March 2025: Bosudha Podder (an OU Freshman) has joined our group as an Undergraduate Research Intern. She will work on hydrostatic transmission modeling and control. Welcome, Bosudha! 

Jan. 16, 2025: Amir's paper, entitled "Tri-Level Control Co-Design for Series Electric-Hydraulic Hybrid Vehicles", has been accepted for an oral presentation at ACC 2025. Well deserved. Congratulations, Amir! 

Dec. 13, 2024: We gathered for a group lunch in Downtown Rochester Hills to celebrate the successful completion of Fall 2024. I deeply appreciate group's hard work and contributions throughout the semester. Wishing you all happy holidays and happy New Year!

Dec. 11, 2024: The PI sponsored and advised the Fall 2024 Senior Design Team (6 ME students and 5 EE students) on the project entitled "Control System Design for an Electrified Mobile Construction Machine". The project focused on developing a novel electrified excavator using pump-valve composite control systems. The team delivered excellent work!

Nov. 24, 2024: Amir's paper, entitled "Optimal Energy Management of Parallel Electric-Hydraulic Hybrid Vehicles based on Dynamic Programming and Recurrent Neural Network", has been accepted for an oral presentation at SAE WCX 2025. Excellent work! Congratulations, Amir!

Oct. 28, 2024: Amir and Weichen gave presentations at the MECC in Chicago on their dissertation projects. Well done!

Sep. 6, 2024: The SECS faculty team (PI: Dr. Yang, Co-PIs: Dr. Chen, Dr. Wang, Dr. Yoon, Dr. DelVescovo, Dr. Aloi, Dr. Alawnhe, Dr. Toulabi) has been awarded a $3 million grant from the NIST for the development of the "Next-Gen Electrification Testing and Standards Facility: from Materials to Vehicles". Dr. Yoon and his group will develop a full-scale electric-hydraulic hybrid powertrain and a hydrostatic dynamometer to advance research in controls and diagnostics of electrified heavy-duty vehicles.

July 6, 2024: We had a group picnic at Bloomer Park in Rochester Hills. The weather was nice, and we had a comfortable and enjoyable time. We shared Korean, Iranian and Chinese foods (yes, we are an INTERNATIONAL group), and the kids had a great time playing at the playground.

June 29, 2024: All MECC papers from our group have been accepted for inclusion in MECC2024 (one invited session paper and one contributed paper). Our group will attend MECC on October 27-30, 2024 in Chicago. Congratulations Amir, Weichen, and Neha!

April 30, 2024: Our paper, entitled "Anti-Windup Adaptive Lookup Table Algorithm with Application to Data-Driven Engine Controls" has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement and Control. April 25, 2024: We held a group gathering in the downtown of Rochester Hills to celebrate the end of the semester. Neha will start her internship at Brose in May. The group appreciates Neha's contribution to Simscape simulation. Wishing her the best!

April 20, 2024: Dr. Yoon delivered an invited talk, titled "Hydraulic System Diagnostic based on Inverse Model Estimation and Frequency Domain Analysis" at the Center for Compact & Efficient Fluid Power (CCEFP) Summit Spring 2024, held at the University of Minnesota, April 16-18, 2024.

April 20, 2024: Amir presented his paper on "Optimal Control Co-Design of a Parallel Electric-Hydraulic Hybrid Vehicle" at SAE WCX 2024, April 16-18, 2024. Well done!
