Nov. 2022: Graduate Student Mercedes Johnson won 1st place (Artistic Merit) in the Art Competition at the 38th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Gravitational and Space Research. The title of her artwork is “Blooming to a Better Future.” Congratulations!

Nov. 2022: Undergraduate student Heba Afzal won 3rd place in the Undergraduate Poster Competition at the 38th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Gravitational and Space Research. Congratulations!

Oct. 2022: Dr. Xu received a new award from the Department of Education as the PI to support the project "Institutional Integration of Applied Thermal and Combustion Sciences into Engineering and Science Curricula by Engaging Experiments and Research Opportunities."

Sep. 2022: The Center for High Pressure Combustion in Microgravity at PVAMU received an additional $2 million award from NASA. Dr. Xu is the Co-PI of the project and will continue to serve as the Associate Director in the Center. 

June 2022: Our MS students Mercedes Johnson and Caleb Riggins will start their on-site internships at NASA Glenn Research Center. They will be in NASA Glenn in the Summer and Fall of 2022.

Apr. 2022: Our paper entitled "Dynamic Differential Image Circle Diameter Measurement Precision Assessment: Application to Burning Droplets" has been accepted for publication in an upcoming issue of the IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence (2021 Impact Factor 24.314).

Feb. 2022: Congratulations to Mercedes Johnson on being selected as the Outstanding Master's Student in Mechanical Engineering at PVAMU.

Sep. 2021: Dr. Xu has received a research grant from NSF to support the project "Excellence in Research: Combustion of Bio-derived Isobutanol as an Emerging Fuel for Improved Fuel Efficiency and Economy."

July 2021: Our MS student Olivia Murphy has successfully defended her thesis. She will attend Cornell University as a Ph.D. student in Mechanical Engineering starting Fall 2021. Congratulations!

May 2021: Our undergraduate students Mercedes Johnson, Caleb Riggins, and Yemboado (Brayan) Yonli received their BS in Mechanical Engineering at PVAMU. They will continue as MS students. Congratulations! 

Sep. 2019: Dr. Xu is a Co-PI (PI: Dr. Z. Huque at PVAMU) on a ~$3 million project entitled "Research on High Pressure Combustion in Microgravity" funded by NASA. PVAMU is to establish a Center for High Pressure Combustion in Microgravity with this award, and Dr. Xu serves as the Associate Director of this Center. Sep. 2018: Dr. Yuhao Xu joined PVAMU and founded Thermo-Fluids Research Laboratory.
