My research focuses on following topics: 

1. Evolution genomics of freshwater fishes, especially polyploid Cobitidae loaches.

Key words: whole genome duplication, allopolyploidy, Cobitidae,  hybridization, balance hypothesis.

2. Phylogeography of freahwater fishes.

Key words: genetic population structure, the origin of the endemic species, genome-wide data (such as MIG-seq).

3. Life history and ecological characteristics of freshwater fishes.

Key words: spawning habitat, microhabitat selection, PIT-telemetry.

Also, I love Cobitis loaches in Japan.
