Howdy Doo! David here—or as everyone around Daly City calls me, Zet’z (long story short: don’t work with a lot of Davids at the same time).

I’m a rec kid turned supervisor. I can’t spell, my grammar is questionable, and my sentences are as long as a dragon’s tail. But I make up for all of that with creativity, passion, silliness, and a whole lot of love and care for the work I do.

I’ve been working with Daly City since I was 14, climbing the ladder while juggling other jobs and gaining experience in different organizations and the private sector. Somehow, I always found my way back to recreation.

Over the course of my ancient career, I’ve worked in just about every section humanly possible:

Athletics – Youth & Adult, Aquatics, Youth and Teen Services, Special Events & Family Fun Events, Summer Programming, Gymnastics, Tiny Tot Programming, Senior Services & the Senior Nutrition Program, Food Service ...and of course, my favorite: Other duties as required.

Rachel is a Community Services Coordinator with the City of San Mateo, currently overseeing a portion of Youth Services. 

With 10 years in the Recreation space, Rachel has gained experience not only participating in camps, classes and programs as a kid, but also in being one of the staff that helped implement the great things that happen in them. 

Rachel has enjoyed the journey in this growing profession working with individuals with varying abilities/disabilities, youth after school programs, seasonal/summer camps, Mobile Recreation, and City-wide Special Events. Rachel’s experiences in these areas have helped her develop skills and relationships with patrons, staff and other colleagues as well as given her a passion and fulfillment of providing quality recreation services to the community and helping support the staff/teams that execute them!
